Where to find free ebooks? The two links above are a good place to start. Both are totally free ebook downloads. You can also get a lot of free ebook downloads at Project Gutenberg, or Google books. eBookMall has a list of free ebooks that changes periodically. Literature Project has started a page of free ebooks with places to get free downloads.
Free ebooks come in many different formats, but most are PDF or EPUB. That's because PDF is generally the easiest file type for people to create when they want to give away free content. EPUB is the current open-source standard for ebooks. You'll also find many that are just standard text files (.txt - like what you get in Notepad). That's not really an ebook, but it is a very simple file that, again, is easy for people to create and download.
